Sealiced – Our latest film from Steelhead and Salmon heaven

Sealiced – A little appetiser for the upcoming season!

Right now the upcoming season seems a long “Spey cast” away! However a quick look into the calendar shows that we only have two and a half months before we will be on our way to pursue what are among the largest and strongest Steelhead on the planet.

Watch Columbus Leth and Salmon Junkies latest film Sealiced from Salmon and Steelhead heaven.
It contains footage from our Steelhead and Chinook programs – programs that are not for the faint hearted. They include the juiciest kicks you’ll experience in fresh water and there’s nothing topping it. We believe it should be on the CV of every Salmon Junkie.

Enjoy the ride

Casting a Voice

According to longtime angler Rob Brown the Skeena River drainage is “the last bastion of wild steelhead.” This film examines the value of the Skeena River and its fish, and the steadily growing risks it faces to development and energy transportation proposals. The energy industry is vital to Canada’s economic strength, and the Northern Gateway Pipeline project would use parts of the Skeena as a corridor to reach new global markets. This said, there is also immense value in the diverse ecosystems and wilderness that make up the Skeena. Check out the film here: http://vimeo.com/78876102

Holy smoke, those Skeena fish are really HOT

Skeena Steelhead – Join us for the hottest and strongest freshwater fish in the world where they’re at their very best – in the lower 20 miles of the Skeena river.
Back home after a fantastic BC. Trip where Columbus Leth and I managed to land 30 big Steelies (Most fish was Sea liced). Two fish was 20 lbs and with a 22Lbs. for Columbus as the biggest. Beside the twenty pounders, we managed to land 21 Steelhead between 13 – 19 Lbs. Smallest fish was a couple of 13lbs chromes. Many of the fish stripped us for more than 200meters of backing in the first run, and most of the time we had to jump behind a hot Chromer 200 – 300m downstream before we managed to land the fish.
We have over the years developed salmon programs that are among the best in the world today. In that tradition we are tailoring one of the most awesome steelhead programs on the market. We are very excited to announce that in 2014 we will offer 3 prime weeks (Exclusively) where you will be able to fish Skeena mainstem and select tributaries in a full 6-day package – not the usual 5 days package – in company of some of the best and most hardcore Canadian steelhead guides available.
Skeena. It is a powerful and evocative word. To the indigenous peoples of British Columbia’s north coast region it is the “River of Mists.” To fly fishers around the globe it is a dream destination offering nearly boundless opportunity to pursue what are among the largest sea-run fish on the planet. For quite a while Salmon Junkies has been trying to find a steelhead program able to fill up the dreadful gab that probably most Salmon Junkies have in the calendar in February and March. Scotland has been the choice for many anglers, but we would like to bring a unique and refreshing programme for all the many European Salmon Junkies, who are suffering hard this time of year. After months of hardcore due diligence, we decided last winter to pack our bags and head for Oregon. And what a fabulous test trip we had “over there”. Please watch Columbus Leth’s two small movies from Oregon here:
